I recently started taking reading seriously.I started reading to actually learn something, get knowledge. I even bought sticky notes to jot down a few important pointers( no I don't use highlighters because I keep loosing them). In my miniature escapades, I found out that every book is a master piece in itself and deserves the whole attention of the mind. But if I had a choice I would go for the books with a happy ending. Heartwrenching stories where the good guys win and the bad guys die a painful death. They are skinned alive or set on fire or even have their fingers chopped one at a time. A bullet to the brain would be too fast a death neither would an arrow do. I also want the author to make it long and slow. The villain in this case is a rapist.
It has been said before but I will say it again.
This notion of the victim getting victimised further and the offender getting exalted needs to stop. It is such a screaming shame that in 2020 we are still trying to incorporate basic humanity. I honestly thought by now humans should have built another tower of babel atleast once or even invented something cooler like flying cars. But nooo! We are still trying to teach people the meaning of consent.
I Keep wondering why we even have schools in the first place then I remember my humanities teacher cared more about dead souls and molten lava than he did about basic humanity.I call upon you to take an individual initiative to learn about consent, taking L's in peace and effects on the victim.
I badly want to put it on poor parenting , absentee dads or negligent mothers but then I remember that we are all grown and we can't blame all our mistakes on our shitty childhood. I want us to be the change we want to see.I want us to do more than actually posting or writing about it.Fathers educate your sons, sons enlighten your friends, brothers instead of telling your sisters what not to wear or post, tell them that you will break the face of the man who breaks her. I know my brother would.
I also want to put it on peer pressure ,but then I am reminded that we can turn this around and call out sexual offenders instead of joining them even if they are our bros for life. I want to blame it on the alcohol but then the last time I got drunk I did not rob a bank so why would raping someone be explained with such a flimsy excuse?? Law students can enlighten their friends on what the law provides in such matters what one can do in such a situation or even the reppercussions. (You can as well google it).I am aware that this will not change in a day or a year it could prolly take another decade...but atleast it will change.
I now want a different ending, I want the villain to become better, I don't want him to die if he has a chance not to. I want a happily ever after. I also want the author to evoke change with her writings, leave a feel, a hair-raising long lasting feel. I hope I did.
